We don’t choose where we break down, so it’s useful to know how to move the car safely if you find yourself somewhere inconvenient or dangerous. Kevin Neal, Master Technician at Gowrings Ford in Basingstoke, tells you how you can get your car working briefly in order to move it to a safer location
- Select second gear, take the brake off, put the clutch up, turn the ignition and go forward on the starter motor
- Only do this in emergency as it can damage the starter motor if done for too long
